
Stress Awareness Month 2019
April is stress awareness month and it has been held every year since 1992. Increasing awareness of stress is really important as it affects millions of people in the UK and can have a profound impact on both our physical health and mental health.
Stress is ours bodies response to an event or situation that we may deal with and these events vary for everyone. Stress might be experienced by someone working hard towards a tight deadline at work and somebody completely different may experience stress from just experiencing something new. Everyone deals with stress differently and the effects can range vastly between us.
Some symptoms of stress include :
- Anxiety
- Fear
- Anger
- Sadness
- Self doubt
- Headaches
- Indigestion
- Rise in blood pressure
- Isolating yourself
- Increase intake of alcohol
- Sleeping to little
Some things that can help you to deal with stress :
- Talk about why your are feeling stressed
- Build supportive relationships
- Change your lifestyle
- Exercise
- Limit smoking and drinking alcohol
- Learn to say no
- Eat healthily
