Empower Yourself: Understanding and Managing PMDD

Empower Yourself: Understanding and Managing PMDD

This workshop is designed for anyone who has been diagnosed with PMDD, believes they may have the condition without a formal diagnosis, or wants to better understand and manage their symptoms. It is inclusive of cisgender women, trans men, and anyone assigned female at birth who experiences PMDD. Whether you’re seeking clarity, support, or practical strategies, this course provides the tools and knowledge you need. Together, we will:

  • Explore PMDD: Gain a clear understanding of what PMDD is, the science behind it, and how hormonal changes in the menstrual cycle contribute to its symptoms.

  • Examine Its Effects: Learn how PMDD impacts daily life, relationships, and mental health, supported by a relatable fictional case study of Claire and her journey with the condition.

  • Understand Your Cycle: Explore the role of hormones in your menstrual cycle and how their fluctuations contribute to PMDD symptoms.

  • Navigate Diagnosis and Management: Learn about the process of receiving a diagnosis, treatment options, and ways to effectively manage symptoms with the support of healthcare professionals.

  • Know Your Rights: Understand the DSM-5 criteria for PMDD and how the condition may be recognised as a disability under the UK Equality Act 2010.

  • Build Your Toolbox: Develop practical skills and strategies, including self-care techniques, stress management, and tools to enhance emotional and physical well-being.

This workshop is a safe, inclusive space for everyone affected by PMDD, regardless of gender identity. Whether you're just beginning to explore PMDD or are already on a journey of understanding and management, this workshop provides opportunities for reflection, discussion, and actionable steps. Our comprehensive and compassionate approach will empower you to feel more informed, supported, and in control of your condition.

The workshop also offers an ongoing messaging support group, providing a space to connect with the peers you complete the workshop alongside. This group serves as a source of ongoing support, where you can share ideas, seek advice, and encourage each other throughout your journey.
